ECG/EKG Technician Program (formerly Telemetry Technician - Cardiac Monitor)

This 80-hour EKG (electrocardiogram) course prepares students for an entry-level job as an EKG Technician.  Students will acquire knowledge and skills in monitoring and recording electrical impulses transmitted by the heart.  Students will perform hands-on techniques, using industry standard EKG equipment and will apply these to real-world case studies.  Students will apply advanced medical terminology, anatomy and physiology as it relates to cardiovascular health and disease processes; reinforcing pre-requisite class concepts.  After the successful completion of this course, students will be prepared to take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified EKG Technician Certification (CET) exam.

  • Prerequisite: Successful completion of Medical Terminology course within the last 5 years
  • Course includes 4 hours a week of in-class time and 4 hours of online course work
  • Course includes National Health Career Association Exam for Certified EKG Technician (CET) and exam study guide
    • Per the National Health Career Association CET exam requirements include:
      • 18 years of age or older
      • Possess a high school diploma or GED
      • Never been convicted of a felony
