Congratulations to Ron Ponce, our Teacher of the Year! NOCROP Board President Anna Piercy, Superintendent Terri Giamarino, Anaheim Union High School District Superintendent Michael Matsuda, and AUHSD and ROP staff surprised Ron with the news during class on January 19, 2018.
"Mr. Ponce has been with ROP since September of 2000. He has been at Anaheim High School for the past 12 years teaching in the Engineering Design Pathway. When asked what his highlight of teaching is, Mr. Ponce shared his students and their eagerness to learn. In addition, he shared that his students’ kindness and willingness to make their community a better place is what motivates him. We are so proud of Ron and the impact he has had on his students these past 18 years!" -Superintendent Giamarino

Biotechnology Pathway student Shawn Patel has been picked by CA-47 Representative Alan Lowenthal as the winner of The Congressional App Challenge! Shawn is in 11th grade and also serves as the Technology Chair of the HOSA-Future Health Professionals chapter at Oxford Academy. Congratulations, Shawn!
Emergency Response Pathway at Los Alamitos High School
Emergency Response Pathway students at Los Alamitos High School had the chance to demonstrate their skills on Superintendent Giamarino, under the direction of instructor Steve Erickson. In this class, students learn skills to recognize emergency situations and assist Emergency Medical Services providers at the scene.
Orange County Register
Residential and Commercial Construction Pathway students at Brea Olinda High School were featured in an article by the OC Register for their work with Fullerton Arboretum. The students built an entry kiosk that comfortably houses volunteers that greet visitors to the arboretum. The kiosk recently received the finishing touch of a plaque to commemorate their hard work.
Vital Link OC
Vital Link of Orange County, a non-profit organization that seeks to bridge the gap between education and industry for high school students, has debuted a new logo and rebrand for their robotics program. The logo was created by Design, Visual, and Media Arts Pathway student Moises Jimenez; a senior at Esperanza High School. The program was previously named Vex Robotics.
WE at Oxford Academy
Oxford Academy hosted a WE motivational speaker and workshop titled, "It All Adds Up" on January 18, 2018. The event focused on personal finance and financial literacy, and provided students with skills to successfully set-up cost-effective fundraisers. Thank you to speaker Dahe Jun, City National Bank, and Biotechnology Pathway instructor Jun Cuenca for coordinating the event.
Screen Actors Guild Awards
Production and Managerial Arts students at Buena Park High School attended the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards on January 21, 2018. Omar Gonzalez, Miguel Lopez, Nathalie Perez, and Johnny Rogel donned their best outfits and shot photos/video alongside other media outlets. Thank you to instructor Danny Flores for providing this amazing opportunity!
Kid Healthy - Cooking Up Change Competition
North Orange County ROP Culinary Arts Pathway alumni and reigning champions of the national Cooking Up Change competition are currently featured on KID HEALTHY's Facebook cover page! Yasmin, Carlos and Isabella won the Orange County Cooking Up Change competition and went on to win the national Cooking Up Change competition in Washington D.C. under instructor Mario Schwarz-Cole at La Habra High School. Who will win this year? Save the date for April 26, 2018!
